Winners of the January art contest!

We thought we had you stumped with the prompt for the January art contest, but you guys were right on track!

The prompt for January was: “The tracks in the snow were unlike anything Will had ever seen before.” It’s probably been one of our most challenging ones so far, partly for how specific the subject is and partly for how hard it is to draw snow.

But you all came up with so many ✨creative solutions✨ for this one. We got a whopping 73 entries, a big thank you to all who submitted!

The two winning entries were picked during Critique Arena, our monthly event where we do critiques live. We tried out the new format again this time, where the audience got to vote!

We started with the top 16 competitors, and did successive rounds of judging where the audience voted every round and picked the top 2!

We’ll be adding the recording of the event to the video subscription next week, but in the meantime here are the two winning entries:

Winner! Art by Lisa Burvant.

Winner! Art by Li Xin.

And here are the top contenders:

The judges also picked two more as runner ups this time:

Runner up! Art by Cat De Pillar.

Thanks again to all who entered the contest this month, you are the cat’s meow! It’s so great to see everyone growing as illustrators 😊

You guys are so pawsome! GIF from Giphy.

Be sure to enter our February art contest for a chance to win a live art critique.

The prompt is: NIGHTFALL. It’s just a single word, but very challenging!

See you next time in the arena…the Critique Arena!
