About the Instructor

Michael Parker
Illustrator and Fine Art Painter

Michael Parker is a freelance illustrator, fine art painter, and teacher. He studied Illustration at Brigham Young University and completed a Master's Degree in Painting at Laguna College of Art + Design. Michael's focus in his work is representing the human figure through the use of narrative. Michael is married to Mary Parker who is also a BYU illustration alumni, they have three girls, and a boy. He loves chocolate, kung-fu movies, a good car chase, turtles who know ninjitsu, and Norman Rockwell. He currently teaches at Brigham Young University and Utah Valley University. He resides in Springville, Utah.

Really helpful, clear and beneficial

Michael is clearly a very conscientious teacher who knows the needs of his students. His explanations and demonstrations are top notch and gives me confidence in getting to know this difficult subject.In addition, the assignments are well thought out and there are also plenty of them (8 in total) which is excellent to help the student learn how to apply what they are learning. The addition of the hundreds of photographs of the models is the icing on the cake for getting in the plenty of practice to become proficient at these fundamental aspects of figure drawing.Brilliant stuff!
