New video on drawing from a maquette!

Consistency is key! Image by Jake Parker

One of the big challenges of working on a big storytelling project, like a picture book or animation, is keeping the characters consistent throughout the story. The characters need to look right from every angle, no small feat even for the pros! One little trick a lot of artists use is to draw from a maquette 😉 The idea is to make a 3D sculpture of your character, so you can really see what it looks like in any scenario.

In this video, sculptor Dan Mortensen demos how to make a maquette to use for reference in your storytelling project.
