WHY DO I NEED A KILLER PORTFOLIO?

Landing great illustration jobs isn’t based on a fancy degree from a prestigious university. In the illustration industry, you’re judged based on the quality of your portfolio - it’s your most important job acquiring asset. Your portfolio IS your resume.

WHAT SHOULD GO IN MY PORTFOLIO?

An artist’s portfolio should reflect the work they’re proud of, but even more importantly, it should reflect the kind of work they want to get hired to produce. Art directors might be impressed with your figure drawings from college, but those drawings aren’t going to land you a job illustrating a Children’s Book. If you want to illustrate Children’s Books, make sure that genre of work is well represented in your portfolio.
